In 1920s, a new type of woman was born. Flapper did all the things men did, and changed her appearance from her hair to her looks. Flapper love taking risks, and feeling giddy. Society gender roles were all anxious on how their roles would be like after the war ends. After the World War, any men died. Young women don’t date till a man initiates with the females interests and offer a suitable intentions, example : Marriage, etc. However due to the incline of lost men, women decided strong and brave, that they will not waste their lifetime away and wait for marriage to happen.
The word “Flapper” first appeared in Great Britain after World War I. Used to describe young girls, still in an awkward movement before entering womanhood. In June 1922, the edition of Atlantic Monthly, G. Stanley Hall, used a dictionary, and found the true meaning of what “Flapper” meant.

Flappers were northern, urban, single, young, middle class women. Since the 1920s economy rose, and a number of department stores popped up. Many women was needed on the sales floor to please, and recommend items to customers. Flappers engage in active city nightlifes. As a new women of the young twenties, adopted with carefree attitude in the ages of prohibition, along with men.

Flappers’ image consisted of drastic to shocking changes in their hair and clothing. Flapper broke away from a Victorian outlook of womanhood. A lot of reporters say at girl ‘parked’ their corsets when they go dancing. Stated by Coco Chanel, the outer clothing of flappers were seeable, like the look “Garconne, (Little Boy).”
It is said that in the Jazz Age, women replaced their pantaloons, and corsets with “step-ins.”
The waist of a flapper clothes were dropped to the hipline, and wore stockings (made of Rayon “Artificial Silk.” The hem of the skirts rose a few inches from 1925-1927, however it just fell below the knee.
The Gibson Girl - Prideful girl, with long, beautiful lush hair, and elegant.
Flapper Girl - Funky, Giddy, and her hair was cut short. They also wore something that was only previously worn by loose women.
